Here are three reasons why you should do a FIRST LOOK✨
• For starters, who doesn’t want photographs of themselves moments after hair and makeup just finished! Typically on a wedding day if you don’t plan to incorporate a first look, the photographs of you and your groom won’t happen until after the ceremony, family formals and then the full bridal party photos. At this point, you’ve been wearing your hair and makeup for hours and will probably be frustrated that we’re still even taking photos (I’m just being honest - let’s party!!!)
• Which leads me to reason two: you will get to your party faster and potentially be able to actually enjoy your cocktail hour! How many of you, by a show of hands, made it to your cocktail hour without incorporating a first look? … I’ll wait. The timeline just doesn’t allow it, unless you decide on a first look
• And lastly (but I have a million more reasons why you should) my favorite reason of all is that you get to enjoy sweet, intimate moments like these two. Matt & Meg had a quiet first look on the balcony at @great.marsh this spring. Typically after a first look, I back away and capture some photographs from afar and let my couples really enjoy the moment
• Bonus reason: take it from me who has been through the wedding planning process and captures 15+ weddings a year … If you don’t do a first look, you honestly won’t have a moment to chat with your significant other until your first dance. That’s truthfully the first moment that is just the two of you, no distractions or directions being thrown your way
If you takeaway anything from this post, just do the dang first look. We’ll be able to free up so much time on your timeline the day of AND you’ll end up kicking those pre wedding jitters before walking down the aisle.
